Created to Play Release Day
It's finally here!
“What do you do?” I typed the first words of my introduction when my teenager was still in single digits. It was before the ducks waddling around our backyard were even born and before our family had walked through the sorrow of tragedy. In the three years I’ve been working and waiting on Created to Play a lot has changed around me and (hopefully, by God’s grace) within me.
Yet as I’ve gone through the circuit of interviews and radio shows, I realized one thing hasn’t changed. I still love finding out what people like to do. Not only in the office or in a vocation, but in their spare time. I love finding out how they play. I love learning what lights up their eyes in the evening or on weekends. Because these little glimpses are opportunities for me to see the beauty of the God who gave them those passions. They are chances to learn about the ways the Lord is forming them and teaching them through their favorite activities. They are opportunities to revel in the glory of the diverse world God has made and the multitude of his majesty scattered across it.
I hope Created to Play does the same for you. I hope it opens your eyes to see the beauty of God’s glory spread throughout every inch of this world. I hope it allows you to see the ways he’s forming you through your favorite hobby and the way he’s forming the neighbor beside you. I hope it brings you to worship the God of all gifts and beauty. And I hope it leads you ask more often, “How do you play?”
Thanks for reading along with me through the years and supporting my work. For those who bought my book, I’d be so grateful if you shared about them on your social media, in person with friends, and then write a quick review on Amazon or Goodreads. Those reviews really help my book become more visible for others to find it!
And if you’re interested, I think Created to Play would make an excellent summer book club book to read with friends to get the conversation going on how you play. Read it in community, find out what I forgot, disagree with me on parts- the important thing is to talk together about the ways God made us and the ways he is forming us.
Released articles on Play:
This week has also been pretty busy with articles releasing so I’m going to link them here below:
Parent's Need Play Too- The Gospel Coalition
Imaging God in Our Hobbies- Core Christianity
The Difficulty of Play - Story Warren
My Camper Van Burned in a Freak Accident - Christianity Today (This one was admittedly really difficult to write, especially right before we were planning to leave on another family vacation.)
As always, thanks for being here, and whether you’re working or playing, may the Lord direct your heart to the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ.

Congratulations, Brianna! Rejoicing with you!
Can’t wait to read it!
