I never call, I never write… I know.
Turns out the particular limits of my humanity mean that when I’m editing my book, I am quite unable to complete much else (on the writing front at least).
I received my manuscripts edits for Created to Play at the beginning of the summer, and I’ve been absorbed in rewrites, reorganizing, and all the fun of thinking through a topic with fresh eyes. In my spare time I squeezed in planning the next year of homeschool, driving a dozen times to the fairgrounds for 4-H, as well as other various family tasks and events.
The Lord was faithful through each day, and thanks to the encouragement and prayers of so many I turned in my second draft, and it’s currently in the hands of the copyeditor!
Let me tell you, I’m so excited. I’m eager for this book to encourage you. I’m eager for it to bring you to worship the God who made you and to delight in his gifts. I hope it prompts you to see more of him—to be renewed in the truth that every day you’re walking in his world—no matter what you’re doing.
But for now I must wait. I hope you wait with me.
Because we’re starting up school, and I spent a lot of my summer working like crazy behind orange traffic cones my husband put up, or in our camper (you can check out my pictures below), I am planning to take the rest of August off to focus a bit more on my family.
In September, I’ll be back with more writing and even more updates on my book.
…A cover reveal will be coming soon!!!
Before I go: I wrote this article much earlier this year, but it finally found a published home. It’s fitting it got published (today!) at Gospel-Centered Discipleship right around the anniversary of our fire:

Oh hey that’s me.😁
I’m so excited about your book and wait eagerly with you! ❤️ Thank you too for sharing your article and congratulations on its publication! Such a good perspective. Sending love, Aunt Patty
